We educate, facilitate and speak to help you, your colleagues, employees and clients experience the world through new eyes. We apply the discoveries of quantum science to human potential in an organizational context.

Each member of the extended ProGenerations team operates from a few simple principles:

  • All organizations are created and sustained by people
  • Each person counts and is able to shape the world
  • You can discover how to evoke vision and a sense of discovery in yourself, your colleagues & clients so that each of you can step into the unique way in which you count and shape the world

Logic, Creativity and Results is one of the first public programs we've created for ProGenerations. By attending you can obtain our new Spirals of Logic Facilitator Certification. This program is an opportunity to engage both your willingness and your ability to facilitate generative change in organizational systems. As a Spirals of Logic Facilitator™, discover what it takes to stay grounded and confident in the midst of uncertainty, carving out a path that others can follow… becoming the difference that makes the difference! Visit the new ProGenerations web site, www.ProGenerations.com, for more information on this new program currently scheduled for Halifax in June and for Ottawa in August.

ProGenerations is also pleased to announce that Carlos Fox, a WEL-Systems Catalyst and president of Intento International Inc., has already begun to collaborate with us in bringing a WEL-Systems perspective to the corporate world. Carlos has created this month's Thought Waves article listed below.

The Morphing Continues…

…community evolves!

The WEL-Systems Institute's intention of building a global community of synergistic interests continues to take shape. In today's world, it's one thing to be trained in a methodology and body of knowledge, and another to become part of a living system that allows for shared interests through the strength of individuality.

To facilitate individual alumni exchanging ideas and information, we are trialing the WEL-Systems Community Information server. This discussion list is an open invitation available to everyone who has participated in a WEL-Systems® experience via one of the operating divisions: Portals Passages, Partners In Renewal, TidePool Resources or ProGenerations

You can visit the Institute's list server page at: http://www.topica.com/lists/WEL-Systems/

You may subscribe by sending an email to WEL-Systems-subscribe@topica.com and then completing the registration form that will be presented to you.

…stay tuned for more information on how to engage in expanding community with us.

Did you know?

The news about depression is downright depressing?

In 1999, The National Institute of Mental Health reported that up to 10% of American workers were 'depressed' and they spent more days in bed than all their colleagues who suffered from diabetes, arthritis, back pain, lung conditions and gastrointestinal disease. There is no evidence to suggest that Canada or Canadian workplaces are any different. The costs are staggering and the implications for our corporate environments are massive.

A recent study based in Manitoba concludes that prescription medications in 1997 accounted for 10.8% of health care spending -- up 75% in fifteen years. They further noted that the most commonly dispensed categories of drugs were those which act on the nervous system: pain killers and anti-anxiety/depression medications.

The Manitoba study further noted that women are prescribed anti-anxiety and anti-depressant drugs twice as often as men!

What's all this telling us about our workplaces? Could it be that they aren't working for many, many people? Could it be that as we evolve as human beings we expect, demand and need workplaces that are more stimulating and demanding? Are we doomed to live lives of drugged corporate drudges? Or can we create workplaces where we can connect to one another with authenticity and possibility? Where we can find fulfilling work that sparks our creativity and commitment and where we no longer need to medicate ourselves in order to face another day.

Finally, what can each of us do to contribute to this creation ...to living a full, rich life free of the tyranny of a little pill, to creating workplaces where others want to be in our presence, where they feel valued and supported because we clearly value ourselves and our contribution?

Thought Waves

This article was written by Carlos Fox, a WEL-Systems Catalyst since 2002.
Carlos has over 25 years of experience in international sales and marketing with many great high-tech companies such as Hewlett-Packard, Sun Microsystems, JetForm and Chrysalist ITS. More importantly, however, Carlos has developed deep wisdom gleaned from being a true citizen of the globe. Carlos uses that wisdom and deep understanding of the challenges of executive leadership to offer executive coaching, consulting and education to help companies increase their global sales effectiveness. As an active board member himself, he is acutely aware of the issues and challenges executives face in authentically expressing who they are in venues they may perceive as hostile to or disinterested in the human dimension. Carlos specializes in using Logical Levels of Thinking to help his organizational clients achieve breakthroughs.

Making the Numbers - Or any goal

Successful individuals and organizations know that it takes a combination of will and ability to make their numbers or achieve their goals. Let's explore a scenario that highlights what we mean by such will and ability in a sales context.

When assessing your personal and organizational will, the following are areas to focus on:

  • Are your willing to explore what you don't know you don't know?: what is really going on with the market, the competition, new players? What is happening internally with the sales team.
  • Are you willing to develop clarity of intention regarding relationships -- with external people and your own sales force? The degree of safe communication or rapport you create with others is the degree to which they will share with you their values, beliefs and attitudes about opportunities and their ability to execute the plan.
  • Are you willing to make the tough choices to get where you want to go?
  • How willing are you to create an integrated discipline that ties together prospecting, sales cycle anatomy, pipeline management, the forecasting process and account management?
  • Are you willing to spend time with customers and influencers, since this is where the largest revenue returns occur relative to time invested?
  • What is your will to invest time, resources, revenues, and people development to achieve your numbers?

In terms of ability to make the numbers, some key areas to pay attention to include:

  • What is your ability to define, clarify, and communicate your intention: are you a solution provider, a product company or a service provider? Are you able to hold conversations with clients at an altitude that reflects your intention? For example, as a solutions provider, can you and your sales team hold an extended conversation about solutions without product conversations taking over?
  • Can you create and sustain rapport with both your sales team and customers to obtain the trust needed to share key information and deal with problems as they arise?
  • Can you adapt to cultural norms and reflect that adaptability in the behaviors of field members regarding expected time to revenue, productivity and achieving key milestones?
  • Can you execute a consistent account management methodology across the sales team? The common language created by such a methodology supports the sales team in knowing where in the sales cycle you are at all times and increases predictability.
  • Is the required degree of relevant knowledge available and being used?: i.e. vertical markets, competitors, related businesses, international business trends and practices, emerging technologies, regulatory trends, etc.
  • How current are the sales, communication and relationship building skills of your extended team?

I have found that Logical Levels of Thinking is a useful tool that invites you to view any sales undertaking through the filter of will and ability; to notice how you move towards or away from it. The art is in asking questions to discover the clarity of your intention and your willingness to create the space for others.
